LINE OUT CONCEPT.

Line out is based on the rehabilitation of the passage of the Church of Mercy located in the Raval neighborhood. This particular building is located right next to the MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona), which means that the fluctuation of people is a very important aspect. Our project is configured from a module that brings together three different elements: The passage, the door and the corner. All three aim to make the user teleport to the history of the House of Mercy of the 1930s. A critical, brave and strong piece in the middle of a divided and unstructured neighborhood.

The fusion of these three elements: the passage, the door and the corner, had to be as harmonious as possible, so we used the diagonal to connect them in a single module and that was the concept that defined each of the elements. The diagonal provides perspective and directionality, exactly what the project asked of us, when redesigning the passage of the Church of Mercy.

We were very clear from day one that we wanted to show the importance of the House of Mercy. To do this, we took the two elements that already stand out in themselves as they are: the Garden of the Orange trees and the Church of the Mercy, made us see that we had to use this passage like intermediate to take from a place to another one and to make live emotions to the user; always taking into account how to arrange the elements to respect the existing perimeter of the passage, being very subtle but at the same time making you feel a sense of immersion towards the “refuge of the city” (Orange Garden).
